The Business of goal setting

If you’re anything like me then on the 31st of December you would have found a quiet moment to sit and write your New Year resolutions so that come the 1st of January I  new exactly what was expected of myself and in what time frame i had to meet these new achievements by! All done of course with good intentions but never the less with the need to offer myself some hope of BEING and DOING better than I already am!

Well not this year… I decided to greet 2009 in the same spirit that I left 2008. (In gratitude for all that I had achieved thus far and for acceptance of all that is being experienced in my life at present.

 I have chosen to take on a new view towards what New Year resolutions mean and how they can still serve me without it being a long list of things I had to achieve so that I felt I had finally arrived somewhere, which on reflection has been the motivating factor in the past.

It has taken me quite some years to find that balance between setting goals that are realistic in nature and achievable within the desired time frame. Even now I have to remind myself that goals aren’t set in stone but rather a guide line…a little like a map for getting from A to B. The goal is to get from A to B but the map offers me a number of options for achieving this goal which is why it is so important i remain flexible, adaptable with an open mind and above all an open heart, otherwise these goals turn into my nightmares no longer igniting my imagination, excitement and love of new experiences. Instead they become my shadow, along with all the self judgment that comes when I wasn’t able to tick that box.

My business is helping others to improve their health, fitness and well being. Goal setting is a large part of the journey back to health and vitality and is something I spend a lot of time on with my clients so they feel supported through their goals and their strategies for achieving them and not overwhelmed and stressed by what can end up feeling like just another list of things TO DO in order for you to feel like you are somebody that matters!!

Healing Through Art

This workshop offers the individual an opportunity to ignite they imagination whilst they explore and release emotions within the subconscious mind through guided mediation and working with mandalas.

The word "mandala" is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean "circle," a mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself--a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds.

Exercise of the Month 

  • Roll out over Swiss ball into the plank position with your feet or shins on the ball ( the farther your torso is from the ball the harder the exercise will be)

  • Place your hands below your shoulders with a comfortable width.

  • Keep your spine and head in alignment; do not let your head drop forward or your lower back sag down. Draw your belly button inward, then drop your chest toward the ground, holding good alignment. Push back to the start position, maintaining perfect form.

 Recipe of the Month: The Triple A summer salad! A simple nutritious salad: Serves 4

2 organic Avocados – chopped or sliced

2 bunches of asparagus steamed and refreshed under cold water

1 tin of organic globe artichokes

Juice of I lemon

2 tbsp of olive oil

Generous pinch of quality sea salt

Method – simple and delicious as always, just combine all ingredients together and serve. Is a great a complement to grilled tuna steak or most white fish or bbq chicken thigh/breast or a juice fillet steak.
